About
Welcome to the charming world of Settle Inn, the proud titleholder of Stirling's oldest pub, dating back to the 1700s. Nestled in the heart of Stirling at 91 St Mary's Wynd, this delightful tavern offers guests more than just a drink—it provides an experience steeped in history and local culture.
Upon entering Settle Inn, you're enveloped in a warm, inviting atmosphere. The rustic decor, which includes a stunning back section resembling a cave, adds character to this historic establishment. Many patrons, including the likes of Steve Morrison and Rahul Narvekar, have praised its cozy ambiance, perfect for both quiet evenings and vibrant gatherings. With its well-kept cash beers and the usual drinks, Settle Inn isn’t just a bar; it's a sanctuary for those seeking comfort and cheer.
While Settle Inn does not serve food, as highlighted by Tracey-Jane Stewart, this doesn’t detract from its allure. The absence of a meal menu is more than compensated by the character of the pub itself and the camaraderie of its visitors. Whether you're enjoying a casual drink or engaging in lively conversation, the pub's essence offers an escape from the ordinary.
Guests have reported an experience akin to being part of a warm, melodic embrace, with live Scottish folk music creating a perfect backdrop for relaxation. Notably, as Julie Bonheur observed, this dog-friendly pub encourages a community spirit that brings people—and their furry companions—together.
In a world that often feels hurried, Settle Inn is a reminder that some places still treasure the joy of simple pleasures. With its friendly staff and enchanting vibe, it leaves an unforgettable imprint on every visitor. So whether you're stopping by for a quick pint or planning a longer stay, connecting with the heart and soul of Stirling becomes inevitable at Settle Inn. We're sure this historic pub, rich with stories and a welcoming spirit, will become a cherished spot in your travel adventures.
“ Stirling s oldest bar. Very traditional and welcoming. Inexpensive, but with very good and well kept cash beer as well as the usual drinks. Cash and card payment accepted. There's a TV with sports. Quiet when I visited, but that only added to the charm. Kind of a cellar bar vibe in the back, though it's not underground. Great place. ”
“ Fantastic little pub, they don't do food, but that's not an issue. Oldest pub in Stirling, 1700s, and an actual cave at the back section. Great music acoustics and the staff were wonderful! It was my first time there. Halloween charity night, and they raised over 800.00. ”
“ Love it. This is one of the cosiest and warmest pub I've visited in recent times. Absolutely fantastic welcome by the elderly gentleman behind the bar. Peaceful and absolutely quaint looking. There's a fireplace which gives an even warmer feel to the place. Fresh beers and great service. If I visit Stirling in future, there's no way I'm missing being here again. ”
“ such a welcoming and warm atmosphere! very dog-friendly and beautiful scottish folk music while i was there. ”
“ Beautiful old historical pub located in Stirling. Doesn't serve food. Don't just nip in to have a look or use the toilet as many people did while we were there, have a seat and a drink weather it be alcohol or a soft drink, guy has to make a living. We will be back!!! ”
“ A good ol'drinking hole. No bells and whistles but a good atmosphere and kind staff. ”
“ Amazing place. Feels like stepping back in time. Lord of the rings and Harry Potter vibes. Real wood burning stove. Barmaid and barman make you feel at home not to mention the drinks are cheap as well. They could certainly charge a premium given its historic significance. A pity there’s no hot drinks in winter but it’s a traditional place! Soak it up!! Highly recommended and wish I’d stayed longer. ”
“ Went their several times when I was in Stirling. Nice friendly warm atmosphere, good range of drinks and helpful staff! Wednesday night is Scottish Folk Music night- perfect venue for a great night. ”
